#2

So - I had a second New Years Goal that was to record music with my Uncle Mark. I haven't gotten anywhere on that yet HOWEVER - I have joined the Fall Ensemble at the church I work at and am now able to read music and sing with a choir again!!! That is the same thing in this #2 resolution in that I wanted to sing - for REAL - and now I get to!! So for anyone who may be wondering...mostly for myself to have proof - YOU'RE DOING IT!!!

Chapter 9...

It's been months but BY GOD I am finishing this book in 2009!! Scott is having to push, push, push me of course because with a full time job and two kids I am NEVER not busy! Last week we got together and finished up chapter 8 and now we are on to chapter 9. 9 and 10 are longer chapters, 11 and 12 are almost non-existent so we are THIS close :)

Chapter 5

WOO HOO! We did it! Scott and I got together on Sunday afternoon for a couple of hours and knocked out chapter five. I say we, but it was really just me doing any recording. He's already got his part, background music and sound effects lined up - I literally showed up, rehearsed a bit, got back into character and then boom. MAGIC! Haha, it was almost magic anyway. I think it sounds pretty dang good. Not just because I'm in it either, but from a literal standpoint it has a lot of qualities that differintiate it from other audio books and would make it much more enjoyable to listen to.

Anyway - just a quick note that I am one more day on my way to accomplishing this goal! YAAAAAAY!

Decisions Made

I explained last post that I had heard from my uncle about getting the recording back up and running. Well - We've talked again since then and we have now set a date for our first "Get Together" - next Tuesday evening.

It felt important enough to write down because it's the first decision made! Haha - and every decision in this process will be an important one.

I haven't got too much more to say right now - but I will post again soon!

Step One

Ok - so New Year Goal #1 was to finish recording "The Inbetween". It's a cute book - one I have been wanting to read to my daughter - but have been putting off with hopes of finishing the recording.

On Friday, 4 days ago, I wrote to my Uncle letting him know that it's time to get back on it and finish it right. I heard back yesterday and I'm so psyched! I love being able to act again, even if it is just reading. I always loved reader's theatre growing up, and I participated in UIL competitions for Prose and Poetry from 4th grade through graduation. I love this stuff; just hope someone will listen.

Anyway, I got off subject. I have made step one - Communication - and we are on to Step Two - Getting Together. I'll keep you posted with the details!

The BIG Two

Originally I was going to put up a list of EVERYTHING I could think of to get done this year. But I decided that was probably the worst thing to do - seeing as I would have to eat so many of those words...so I start here and now with the Largest things on my list. Large as in the most important things to get done - because it will lead to my happiness.

#1 - Finish recording "The Inbetween". It's a book that my Uncle Scott and I had begun recording onto cd over a year ago. The author was so pleased with the first 3 chapters that we knocked out the next 4 chapters, and haven't picked it back up since. I was more focused on school and my new house last year than anything else - but now it's time to get this done! I WANT to get it done - so yep - #1 is where it belongs.

#2 - Begin recording music with my other Uncle, Mark, who just got back in the studio. He writes songs, and plays electric guitar. VERY talented. And though the music might not go far - it's another passion I have. He has asked me to do vocals on some songs with him - and I think it's the perfect year to take him up on it. Why? Cause it'll make me happy!

So - there we go, the two most important things to get done this year. I will post all of my minor stuff later.

New Year Hopes

I started making New Years resolutions about 5 years ago, and haven't quit since. It just seems that things I write down to accomplish for the year always get accomplished. Of course I try to focus on one thing...but even then that one thing is pretty much out of my control...

Like in '04 when I wrote down, swore to God, and wished so hard that that year I would get engaged.

Or in '05 when I wrote down, swore to God, and wished so hard that I would get married, and have a great honeymoon I wouldn't forget.

Or in '06 when I wrote down, swore to God, and wished so hard that my baby would be healthy and happy when he was born. (Doesn't sound like a resolution?....imagine all the things you have to change to make your new baby happy...ALL of that was included in this one....)

Or in '07 when I wrote down, swore to God, and wished so hard to move out of Bastrop.

Or in '08 when I wrote down, swore to God, and wished so hard to get my Associates Degree.

Every year each of my dreams has come true! So this year i've added alot to the plate...but none of them are beyond my control. I think I have a good chance at getting them all accomplished!!

More on that....later!
